A Guide for Couples Planning an Autumn Celebration
Fall weddings in Florida are some of the most beautiful celebrations to photograph — warm sunsets, breezy evenings, and rich seasonal colors that pop against palm trees and waterfront views. As a Tampa wedding photographer, I love fall for its light, its slower feel, and the way it brings out natural warmth and connection in photos. If you’re planning a fall wedding in Florida, here are the things you’ll want to know to get the most out of your day.
Fall in Florida isn’t like the crisp autumn you see up north. Instead, you can expect:
• Warm days with cooler evenings
• Less humidity (which feels amazing for hair + makeup)
• Lower chance of afternoon thunderstorms
• Comfortable temps for outdoor ceremonies
September is still warm (and it is peak hurricane season), October begins to soften (especially around Halloween), and November brings the best evening air — just enough coolness for fireside gatherings and drinks under the stars.

Fall sunsets in Florida are unmatched. The sun sits lower, the tones are softer, and the glow is perfect for romantic portraits. If you’re planning a fall wedding, consider:
• Scheduling photos around golden hour (after fall back, this can be as early as 5pm!)
• Planning a first look so portraits can happen before sunset
• A ceremony start time 1–2 hours before dusk

The result? Warm, timeless images without harsh shadows, difussed light and different opportunities to get both sun and shade through the day!
You don’t need snow or orange leaves to create a fall look. Instead, autumn tones look stunning against neutral landscapes, palms, and waterfront backdrops.

Popular Florida fall palettes:
• Terracotta + navy
• Burgundy + gold
• Emerald + champagne
• Neutral tans + soft wine tones
This time of year, florals in maroon, rust, or deep green stand out boldly against an outdoor venue or white ceremony space.
The cooler weather makes outdoor ceremonies, garden receptions, and waterfront portraits much more comfortable. Many Florida venues bloom beautifully this time of year. Some perfect settings for fall weddings include:
• Estate + historic venues (Bella Cosa Lakeside, The Ringling, Mision Lago Estate)
• Tropical gardens (sunken Gardens in St Pete)
• Barn or farm weddings (Flora Groves Farm)
• Beachfront and coastal spaces (The West Events, The Bilmar, The Grand Hyatt in Clearwater)

Whether you’re marrying beneath moss trees or dancing beside the bay, fall light brings out the your romance in every shot.
A few things to keep in mind when planning your fall wedding in Florida:
• Book early — fall is prime wedding season especially with the holidays coming up!
• Consider sunset timing when building your timeline
• Plan for backup shade during daytime portraits
• Offer guests water + fans for warm afternoons
• Add blankets or heaters for cooler November nights
The goal: comfort, flow, and photos that feel relaxed — never rushed.
The best part of a fall celebration in Florida is how flexible it can be. Cozy or coastal, earthy or elegant, luxury and indoor, etc. The season works with nearly any style and with the cooling temperatures venues can utilize the indoor and outdoor spaces to full capacity.
As your wedding photographer, my goal is to guide you through different lighting, prompting, timelines, and natural moments so your photos feel warm, emotional, and true to who you are.
